Volunteer Reflections 2
I’ve finished shooting the video testimonials with our participating volunteers, and uploaded each video to YouTube. Our volunteers the Director of Communications have utilized mostly Facebook is sharing the content. I transcribed each video with captions to allow individuals who YouTube at work to watch the videos on no volume. I’ve been truly surprised that we were able to get people to come in to actually shoot with us. It’s really gave me a greater appreciation for the staff and volunteers at SAYL, it’s really all about the mission for them - improving child literacy. I won’t mention her name, but I had one volunteer cry during the shoot, when explaining how much volunteering with children through Reading Buddies means to her. My experience in shooting the volunteer reflections, has taught me that non-profits often have to operate on a shoe string budget with practically no professional equipment or resources to conduct a marketing/fundraising campaign. It really requires individuals working in non-profits to be flexible and adapt to what’s required when it’s required.
